Allan is frequently hired as a clinician or workshop leader. Many are one-time events where he serves as a guest choral conductor. In the past few months he has directed a 3-day choral festival of more than 500 combined junior high and high school singers, a 2-day ACDA sponsored event for Oregon/Washington choral directors including master classes and reading sessions, and numerous weekend choral festivals.

Summer Sing, Lake Tahoe, Nevada - August
Every year, for almost twenty years, more than 150 choral singers have flocked to the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference grounds for four days of choral singing. Founded by Mel Olson, this early August event culminates in a musical worship service on Sunday. The conference has enjoyed a host of marvelous clinicians in the past, including such choral conducting luminaries as, Weston Noble, Peter Aston, Paul Smith, JoAnn Miller, Andrew Carter, Frank Pooler, William Hatcher, Bradley Ellingboe, David Dickau, Jo-Michael Scheibe and Charles Bruffy.   Allan serves as co-dean (along with Dr. Katharine Rundus) and conductor for the conference

Tuning @ Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, Nevada - August
For almost ten years this five-day directors’ conference, also founded by Mel Olson, offers classes, workshops, reading sessions and worship nurturing for church music directors. Music reading sessions feature more than 15 publishers, including such reputable houses as Oxford University Press, Hinshaw Music, Beckenhorst Press, Pavane Publishing, Fred Bock Music, Gentry Publications, EC Schirmer, Walton Music, Santa Barbara Music Press, Kjos, Augsburg Fortress, MorningStar Music, Hope Publishing and many more. The staff has included such notable directors and teachers as Weston Noble, Peter Aston, Paul Smith, JoAnn Miller, Andrew Carter, Frank Pooler, William Hatcher, Bradley Ellingboe, David Dickau, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Katharine Rundus and Charles Bruffy. Allan serves as dean and conductor for the conference.

Mendocino / Ft. Bragg, California – February/March
For more than ten years singers have gathered in picturesque Mendocino for a weekend of choral music, usually during whale-watching season in February or March. Singers rehearse all day Saturday, and then gather for a wine and cheese tasting at the Weller House, culminating in an ecumenical worship gathering on Sunday morning. Allan serves as conductor and clinician.

Red Bluff, California – January/February
For more than ten years a unique collaboration of interdenominational churches have sponsored a weekend choral festival in January or February. Singers gather to rehearse on Friday night and all day Saturday, culminating in an ecumenical worship gathering on Sunday morning. Allan serves as conductor and clinician.

Oroville, California - October
For the past three years Trinity Presbyterian Church in historic, gold country Oroville has sponsored the Feather River Choral Festival in October. Singers gather on Friday night and all day Saturday (then head out for an evening wine-tasting and a museum tour), culminating in an ecumenical worship gathering on Sunday morning. Allan serves as conductor and clinician.

Oakhurst, California - April
For more than ten years the Sierra Choral Festival has taken place in April at the Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church in Oakhurst, the gateway to Yosemite. Singers gather on Friday night and all day Saturday, culminating in a festival of music that includes the choir’s performance at a Sunday afternoon concert. Allan serves as conductor and clinician.
